The Board’s academic framework includes an option for schools that serve a significant homeless or special education population to adopt unique, school-specific academic performance standards through which they would demonstrate meeting academic performance expectations. A charter holder is eligible to apply for unique performance standards if it operates a school that serves a special population that does not have an achievement profile established by the Department of Education and adopted by the State Board of Education for state accountability. A school is eligible if at least 70% of the students served by the school are identified as having at least one of the following risk factors:
- Identified as needing special education serves
To petition the use of school-specific academic goals, the charter holder must first submit the eligibility form. If the charter holder is eligible, it will be required to develop goals for both the prior and current fiscal years.
Eligibility forms will be accepted until August 30, 2017
